An early John Wayne feature made in New Orleans, Lady From Louisiana isĀ  about a northern lawyer John Reynolds who travels to New Orleans to try and clean up the local crime syndicate. Although he meets Julie Mirbeau and they are attracted to each other, the fact that her father heads the syndicate means they end up on opposite sides. When her father is killed, Julie becomes more involved in the shady activities and in foiling Reynolds’ attempts at prosecution.
